Setup

This page explains how to add the Public RP Manager bot to your Discord server and prepare it for use.

1. Invite the Bot to Your Server

To install the bot:

  1. Click the invitation link provided by the bot owner

  2. Choose the server where you want the bot installed

  3. Accept the required permissions

  4. Confirm the authorization

Once done, the bot will join your server immediately.

2. Required Permissions

The bot needs the following permissions to function properly:

  • Manage Roles

  • Manage Nicknames

  • View Channels

  • Send Messages

  • Manage Messages

  • Use Slash Commands

  • Read Message History

If the bot doesn't seem to work, make sure:

  • It has the correct role hierarchy

  • Its highest role is above the character roles

  • Slash commands are enabled on the server

3. First-Time Setup

When the bot joins for the first time:

  • All features are disabled by default

  • Administrators must enable the systems they want to use

Example:

This allows you to activate only the features you need.

4. Enable the Main Systems

You can enable or disable the core systems at any time:

Characters System

Activity System

Auto-Rename System

After enabling the systems, set:

⚠️ Log Channel for Activity Alerts

⚠️ AFK Role

This prevents inactive or exempt members from receiving activity bars.

6. You're Ready to Use the Bot

After completing these steps, the bot is fully operational. You can now begin:

  • creating characters

  • linking roles

  • setting up categories

  • generating panels

  • tracking RP activity

  • creating RP sessions
